Shoe on the other foot.
My son Alfie turned three at the end of lockdown so after spending his whole life surrounded by tennis talk it was time for him to have a go.
We had a chat with him beforehand about having coach Andy and he was as excited as he could be. I had numerous concerns about him asking for a cuddle in the middle of my demonstration or refusing to stay on his spot (no idea where he gets his stubbornness from) but luckily he was amazing. I tried to act cool, get on with my coaching and do my job but all I can say is it was very lucky I was wearing sunglasses.
Before having children it is really difficult to understand the emotions in kids starting new activities. Real-life experience is helping me shape how we approach a multitude of different parts of our approach but also understand the challenges every parent faces.
